Gaza’s official media office reported on Wednesday that the number of people killed in Israeli airstrikes in the Gaza Strip since October 7 has risen to 11,500. Among the dead are 4 thousand 710 children and 3 thousand 160 women.
In addition, the number of medical workers killed in the Israeli attack reached 200, the Gaza office said in the statement given in the telegram.
They also said 22 civil defense personnel and 51 journalists were also killed in the attack. In addition, the number of Palestinians injured in these attacks in Gaza has reached 29,800. About 70 percent of the injured are women and children.
Earlier, the United States and Israel said the death toll given by the Hamas-run health ministry should be treated with some caution. But the World Health Organization (WHO) said the death toll was credible.
The Israeli attack destroyed 95 government buildings and 255 schools, Wednesday’s statement said. Apart from three churches, about 74 mosques were completely destroyed and 162 were partially damaged.
It said the Israeli army targeted 52 health centers and 55 ambulances. Apart from this, the services of 25 hospitals in the blockaded territory have been stopped.
The statement added that Israeli soldiers attacked, forced to undress and humiliated many patients, wounded and displaced persons as well as several medical and nursing staff inside Al-Shifa Medical Complex.
Earlier, Israeli soldiers raided Al-Shifa Hospital, the largest medical center in Gaza, at midnight last Tuesday. Israeli security forces claim that based on specific intelligence, they are conducting an operation against Hamas in a specific area of Al-Shifa Hospital.
Israel claims the hospital has a Hamas base. In addition to this, the United States, supporting Israel’s claim, also said that they also have information about a Hamas “command-and-control center” in the tunnel under Al-Shifa Hospital.
However, Hamas and hospital authorities denied this claim.
On the other hand, the Palestinian Authority has condemned the Israeli operation in Al-Shifa Hospital, calling it a “crime against humanity”.
