The woman died in her sleep on Sunday night. On Monday morning, he was found dead by nursing home staff when he was woken up.
A nurse at the old age home said that this daredevil was not expected to pass away so quickly after a great skydiving. Jo Conant, a nurse at Brookdale Lake View Senior Living Community, said Grandma Dorothy was always active. Despite being so old, I have never seen him sleep in the afternoon. There was never a function or a party that he was not present at.
Conant also said, Grandma was a very cheerful and lively person. The sky dive for which he is so famous today was not a record-breaking dive. He really wanted to enjoy the thrill of jumping from such a height. He proved that a number is just a number. The nurse said that the entire nursing home was saddened by his death.
Meanwhile, Skydive Chicago and the United States Parachute Association expressed grief over Hoffner’s death in a statement Tuesday.
Dorothy was born in 1918 in Chicago, USA. It can be said that he has survived two global pandemics like the Spanish Flu and Covid in the span of a century. In 2018, this resident of Chicago, USA shocked the world by skydiving from 10,000 feet.
On October 1, at the age of 104, Dorothy jumped to the ground for the second time from 13,500 feet. “Age is nothing but a number,” Dorothy said to the astonished audience as she stood on the ground.
