Afghanistan was once again shaken by a large earthquake. Its magnitude is 6.3 on the Richter scale.
At least 80 people have been reported injured so far. Last Saturday (October 7) the country faced another major earthquake just 4 days after unimaginable damage and casualties due to several large earthquakes in 24 hours.
The earthquake occurred on Wednesday (October 11) in the area adjacent to Herat Province in western Afghanistan. The spokesman of the country’s Ministry of Information, Abdul Wahid Rayan, said that Wednesday’s earthquake caused a landslide on the Herat-Torghundi highway. It disrupts the communication system.
Apart from this, at least 700 residential buildings standing in Chahak village have been severely damaged by the earthquake on Wednesday.
Earlier, several large earthquakes hit Afghanistan in succession on Saturday. So far the death toll has exceeded 2,000. The number is expected to increase as a result of Wednesday’s earthquake.
