Malaysia has added a few new conditions to their popular MM2H visa program. Many feel that the new policy is geared towards those who wish to live in Malaysia or want to extend their stay there. However, there are mixed reactions to the visa policy.
Malaysia’s sunny weather; The lifestyle of the fusion of Malay, Chinese, Indian and Indonesian cultures attracts many. Many people are interested in getting MM2H visa in search of a little relief. After about a year, the country changed their visa policy. Critics say many expressed disappointment with the visa policy announced this month. They say it has not been clarified whether there is an obligation to meet certain income and asset limits. What happens if the age limit of the applicant is 50 or above is also ignored.
In this context, Andy Davison, publisher and CEO of Tag Media, said that new policies have been introduced in the visa program. But some things need to be clear. This includes monthly income. This can become the biggest challenge for those who want to apply for MM2H visa.
The MM2H program essentially allows foreigners to live in Malaysia for more than 10 years in exchange for certain assets and investments. In the first 16 years after this visa was introduced in 2002, 57,000 applications were received. In 2020, Malaysia closed its borders after the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic.
In 2021, Malaysia tightened the visa policy during the pandemic. The applicant is asked to show a monthly income of 40,000 ringgit, which is 10,000 more than before.
