Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu visited Ukraine’s military region to meet with a command post and senior officials.
This was informed in the statement of the army on Wednesday.
It also said Shoigu visited the ‘Vostok’ command post in eastern Ukraine and heard about the situation on the battlefield.
A video was posted in the army’s statement. It shows that Shoigu is visiting by helicopter. But nothing is said about when he visited the area.
Shoigu’s visit comes as Russian forces recently stepped up their offensive on the industrial town of Avdivka in eastern Ukraine. Earlier, he visited the area in early August.
