Donald Trump is far ahead in the race for the nomination of the Republican Party for the position of the patient of the United States despite the court cases. In the last party’s primary in South Carolina, he lost by a large margin to the former United States ambassador to the United Nations, Nikki Haley.
Donald Trump has a lot of potential in the party nomination race after overcoming various uncertainties. In the meantime, he is confident about his victory and warned President Joe Biden.
“Biden, you’re fired! Get out, get out!”
Joe Biden will say this in November, Donald Trump is making that announcement in February.
He moved a step closer to becoming the Republican presidential nominee after a landslide victory over Nikki Haley in the party’s primary in South Carolina.
His second presidential nomination was widely doubted within the Republican Party itself. But now there is only one candidate with him in the race for the nomination, and that too is quite a bit behind Trump.
South Carolina is Haley’s home state, making the former president’s win even more important. Nikki Haley isn’t giving up just yet, though.
He reiterated his commitment to stay in the competition at least until ‘Super Tuesday’. The fifth of March is that Tuesday. Republicans in 16 states will announce their verdict that day.
Trump never once mentioned Miz Haley while celebrating the South Carolina win. His eyes are on the November general election.
The possibility of a ‘re-match’ or rematch with his successor in the White House, Biden, is now strong.
Trump praised the party’s “unity” after Saturday’s results. Said, “There’s never been such a spirit. I’ve never seen the Republican Party so united.”
Why is Trump so popular?
Even as Donald Trump’s legal troubles continue to mount, his popularity among Republican presidential candidates has not waned.
Support for him has actually grown since then – when he was first indicted last April. However, Trump is the first former US president to be indicted in a criminal case.
Since his first arrest and court appearance, Trump has become the first choice of Republican voters.
“The sense of solidarity between Donald Trump and his supporters – it will be difficult to break” – thinks Clifford Young, a top executive of IPSUS in the United States.
Between 40 and 45% of Republican voters support Trump, and Young says they see the world through Trump’s eyes.
“They believe that Trump is being wronged, that these allegations against him are politically motivated.”
The BBC spoke to some Republican voters about the case against Trump for allegedly keeping secret documents, and got similar views.
Since the beginning of this year, Trump has had to juggle both a campaign schedule and court appearances.
Even if convicted or sentenced, this Republican has already announced that he will not withdraw from the contest in the presidential election.
For now, what is seen is, Mr. Trump is slightly ahead of current President Biden in terms of public support.
The latest poll by The Economist says that 46 percent of the public now favors Trump. And 44 percent of Americans want Biden.
The graph of the survey shows that Trump began to overtake the current president in popularity from September last year.
