Many of us keep many tabs open in Google Chrome browser while using the internet. This causes the device to slow down. But only closing specific one or more tabs will speed up the device.
Chrome has introduced a new feature called ‘Tab Memory Usage’ to identify tabs that are consuming too much memory and close them.
Google Chrome is the most popular in terms of internet browsing, but it is notorious for using a lot of memory.
Google has been trying to fix this for the past few years. The new feature is introduced as the latest addition to this initiative. Those who work with many tabs open, will be especially benefited.
It’s easy to see how much memory a tab is using. For this users just need to place their mouse cursor on the tab. Hovering the cursor will show the amount of RAM or memory used in megabytes in a pop-up window.
By closing the tabs that are occupying more memory, it is possible to speed up the device or Internet browsing very quickly and conveniently.
This feature will increase browser performance by detecting tabs consuming more memory in a fast and convenient way. Those concerned are hoping that it will play an effective role in preventing slowness and crashes in the use of the Internet.
The tab memory usage feature is gradually rolling out to all users. Hopefully, everyone will be able to use this feature in the next few weeks.
In addition to the new tab memory usage feature, Google has taken several other initiatives for overall memory management.
Recently, Chrome introduced a feature called Energy Saver. Which will help save battery charge by limiting visual effects like animations, smooth scrolling, video frame rate and background activities. This feature can be especially useful for laptop users.
You can turn this feature on or off by going to the Performance tab in Chrome’s settings.
Besides, Google has also introduced another feature called tab prioritization, which improves the performance of active tabs by prioritizing them.
