A powerful earthquake struck Jinjian Country in China’s northwestern Gansu Province at 11:59 p.m. local time. The China Earthquake Network Center said it had its origin at a depth of 10 kilometers from the ground.
Rescue workers are working to rescue the injured and dead from the collapsed building of Bhumicamp. However, it is not known how many people are missing in this earthquake.
Earthquakes are common in China’s western province of Gansu. Because it is an earthquake prone area. In 2008, 70,000 people died in an earthquake of magnitude 8 in this region.
Xinhua News Agency reported that the epicenter of the earthquake was in the area between Gansu and neighboring provinces. In addition, strong tremors were felt in many places in Qinghai province.

China’s National Disaster Commission and Ministry of Relief have launched post-disaster operations. They sent relief to the affected areas.
Meanwhile, in the area where the earthquake was felt, it is very cold, as a result rescue workers have to speed up their rescue work. A temperature of minus 14 degrees was recorded in Gansu on Tuesday (December 19) morning. Snow has started falling in many parts of China since last week.
Videos and pictures circulating on social media showed the building in ruins. Residents were seen standing under the open sky in the dark of night.
A 6.2-magnitude earthquake was first felt, followed by nine aftershocks. The magnitude of which was 3 to 4 Richter scale.
