On average, a child dies every 10 minutes in Gaza. One in three injured in Israeli attacks is a child. Such information has been given by the international organization Save the Children.
A Save the Children survey says the lives of 130 children in incubators are at serious risk due to lack of medical equipment. Meanwhile, expressing concern about the situation in Gaza, UNICEF says that 420 children are killed every day in the valley due to Israeli aggression. 37 children died in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem.
In the meantime, there are fears of influenza spreading in the shelter camps. Due to overcrowding, lack of cleanliness, diseases are spreading in various camps. Infectious diseases are also increasing. The acute humanitarian crisis in Gaza has devastated the health system. Operations are being performed without anesthesia. As there is no electricity, treatment is being carried out with the help of mobile phones.
Meanwhile, Gaza’s newborns are the biggest victims of the brutality of the ongoing war. Since the start of the Israeli offensive, mothers in Gaza have been starving or undernourished. Because of that they are not able to ensure enough milk for the child. Apart from this, parents have to worry about the cleanliness of the child due to lack of water.
Many children lost their parents soon after birth due to war. Some were born prematurely and some were seriously injured. That is why they have to be kept in an incubator. However, due to energy and power shortage, most of the hospitals are running on electricity.
