United Arab Emirates acted as a mediator in the exchange of such prisoners of war between Russia and Ukraine for the eighth time since the start of the war in 2022.
Russia and Ukraine exchanged prisoners of war again. A total of 206 people have been released from both sides. Like last time, the United Arab Emirates, a powerful and developed country in the Middle East, acted as a mediator between the two warring countries.
Today Saturday (September 14), the Ministry of Defense of Russia said that 103 Russian soldiers who were captured from the Kursk region have been brought back. 103 Ukrainian soldiers were released in exchange for their release.
On the other hand, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said, we have successfully brought back 103 fighters from Russian captivity to Ukraine.
Among the freed Ukrainians are 82 privates and sergeants and 21 officers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, National Guard of Ukraine, border guards and police, he said.
With this, the United Arab Emirates acted as a mediator in the exchange of such prisoners of war between Russia and Ukraine for the eighth time since the start of the war in 2022. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Gulf country stated this in a post on social media X on Saturday.
Earlier last August, Russia and Ukraine exchanged 115 prisoners of war from each side. The United Arab Emirates also acted as an intermediary for the service. The United Arab Emirates said on Saturday that a total of 1,994 prisoners of war have been released so far through its mediation efforts.
