The leaders of the Muslim world and European countries sat in a meeting aimed at ending the conflict forever by forming two states in the Middle East, Israel and Palestine. The meeting was held in Madrid, the capital of Spain. The European Union foreign policy chief was also present in the meeting.
Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammad Mostafa and the heads of the Arab League and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) were present, along with the foreign ministers of Egypt, Jordan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Turkey. The European Union was represented by Josep Borrell, the head of foreign policy. Apart from this, the foreign ministers of Spain, Ireland, Norway and Slovenia were also present.
In the meeting, the leaders of the Arab world and European countries discussed how to stop the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and how to advance the establishment of two states.
Speaking about the meeting, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez said in a post shared on social media, “Together we want to identify concrete steps that will enable us to ensure progress towards this objective.” The international community must take a decisive step for a just and lasting peace in the Middle East.’
The conference held in Madrid was organized by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Spain, Jose Manuel Albarez. And the meeting was held at the official residence of the Prime Minister of Spain, Pedro Sanchez. Before the start of the conference, Sanchez himself welcomed the guests.
At the end of the meeting, Albares said, “The only way to ensure a just and lasting peace in the region is through the peaceful and safe coexistence of the Palestinian state and the implementation of the two-state solution.” No, because it is not the only conference in European countries or the Muslim world. But he insisted he would be “delighted” if Israel took part in the talks.
