The Joint Arab Islamic Extraordinary Summit has started in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, to resolve the Gaza crisis. This conference started with the opening speech of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman today, Saturday.
Addressing the leaders of the Arab League in the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, the Saudi Crown Prince said that the military operation in Gaza must be stopped immediately and all hostages and prisoners must be released.
“This is a humanitarian disaster, which demonstrates the failure of the international community and the UN Security Council to stop Israel’s gross violations of international humanitarian law, and evidence of the world community’s duplicity,” he said.
Mohammed bin Salman said, “The only way to peace now is to end the Israeli occupation and illegal settlements, restore the established rights of the Palestinian people, and establish a Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital, based on the 1967 resolution.”
At the same conference, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas said, “The United Nations Security Council must fulfill its responsibilities and obligations, so as to immediately put an end to this revenge war against our people.”
“We call on the US administration to stop Israel’s aggression and occupation of our holy sites and violations of their sanctity,” he added.
“We need and want international protection for our unarmed civilians,” Mahmoud Abbas said. Because the West Bank and Jerusalem are being attacked daily by Israeli occupation forces as well as illegal settlers.
“Therefore, no military and security solution is acceptable, because everything here has failed. “We categorically reject any attempt to displace our people from Gaza or the West Bank,” he said.
Meanwhile, the president of Iran went to Saudi Arabia after 11 years to attend this conference. Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman also extended a warm welcome to the Iranian president.
In the conference, Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi said, ‘Indiscriminate bombing of Gaza must be stopped. The entire Muslim world must be united and only through unity can we solve this crisis.’
‘The US is supporting Israel at the UN and has vetoed a resolution to stop the killing of Palestinians. This is encouraging Israel to carry out more killings, bombings and shelling,’ he said.
Ibrahim Raisi also said, ‘I hope we can come to a resolution in this conference for the benefit of the Palestinian people. We must support the Palestinian resistance and kiss the hand and forehead of every Palestinian member who resists.’
