A hangar has collapsed on the grounds of the Boise Airport in Idaho, USA. At least three people were killed. Nine people were injured.
Officials said the accident happened on Wednesday afternoon (January 31) local time. A steel-framed hangar under construction for a private business at the Boise airport collapsed around 5 p.m. local time, authorities said in a statement.
The fire department said the three victims died on the spot. Five of the nine injured are in critical condition. They have been admitted to hospital. However, the authorities are investigating the cause of the collapse. It happened next to the Jackson Jet Center, where private aircraft are chartered and maintained.
Boise Fire Department Operations Chief Aaron Hummel called the incident “disastrous” and said that as of Wednesday evening, everyone who was at the scene had been interviewed. However, he did not want to comment immediately on the casualty.
contractor Big D Builders was awarded the job of building a 39,000-square-foot hangar for the Jackson Jet Center. However, the company was not immediately available for comment on the accident.
