Jamia Binnuria, a famous religious institution in Karachi, the capital of Pakistan’s Sindh province, issued a fatwa calling TikTok the biggest temptation of the present age as ‘illegal’ and ‘haram’.
According to the report, TikTok poses an increasing risk of fitnah (disorder or seduction) among the younger generation today. Therefore, according to Islamic Sharia, the use of TikTok is called ‘illegal’ and ‘haram’. This educational institution of Pakistan gave the fatwa citing ten reasons behind this decision. These include—This app displays images and videos that are prohibited by Islamic Sharia.
Also, TikTok has been blamed for creating and promoting pornographic videos of women. Videos used on TikTok feature men and women dancing and singing. Allegations of nudity and obscenity have also been brought against them. Also, such activities are blamed for wasting time and moral degradation in this fatwa.
Jamia Binoria said because of the fatwa, TikTok videos make fun of religion and important people as well as everything else. If TikTok is connected, it will definitely lead to moral degradation of people, which is prohibited according to Islamic Sharia, according to the fatwa. Jamia Binoria says it is impossible to allow the use of TikTok to continue as it encourages transgression.
According to The Express Tribune, a digital platform analytics firm, the TikTok app was downloaded around 3.9 crore times in 2022 alone.
